Horror stories of pool table moves

Horror stories of pool table moves

As the service writer here at International Billiards, I receive lots of calls from customers who have attempted to move their pool tables by themselves and have achieved disastrous results.

Exhibit A: We had a customer frantically call one morning about their table that was being used in an office space. Apparently someone thought it needed to be a different direction in the room and had tried to spin the table, resulting in 3 of the legs shearing off. When the legs gave way the table crashed to the floor damaging the frame and the slate.

Exhibit B: A couple that had two 20 year old sons who decided to move their table over about a foot in their game room. Two of the legs sheared off and the force ripped the inserts out of the leg.

Exhibit C: A gentleman attempted to move the table by removing the legs and moving the whole top, slate and all. Needless to say, it was too heavy and they ended up dropping it upside down.

Exhibit D: Countless flooring companies have tried to slide a table over for new flooring and caused various types of damage including shearing legs off, ripping out inserts, popping slate seams, bending hardware brackets and ripping blinds off.

How can you avoid the horror stories I’ve just described? Well the most important thing to remember is never move a pool table without first contacting a professional billiard company! Even if you are only wanting to move it a very small distance, you can still damage your table and cause it to be un-level. If you still want to move the table yourself, we can advise you on the best and safest ways to move a pool table or save yourself the hassle and have us do it for you!
